The Challenge

As China’s largest waterpark, OCT Playa Maya Waterpark has over 21,000 cubic meters (5.5 MGD) of water and over 15,000 visitors per day, water quality was the first concern of this waterpark. The second concern was water savings because of an extreme shortage in the Shanghai province.

The Solution

The Neptune Benson Defender® aquatic filtration system was chosen as the primary filter for the park because of its ability to remove particles down to 1 micron or less. A total of 27 Defender® filters were installed Impressive water savings resulted in 90% less backwash water associated with conventional sand filters.
